India Deepwater Drilling & Completions Peer Review
Following a major international investment in an Indian deepwater portfolio, an independent Peer Review and Peer Assist examined drilling and completions performance across a producing deepwater gas development. Extended engagement with the operator progressively exposed a critical technical challenge: reservoir depletion was reducing fracture gradient through stress-coupled effects, leaving later infill wells increasingly vulnerable to severe drilling losses, curtailed well objectives and completion difficulties.
The review moved from broad organisational assessment to focused technical intervention. Specialist Wellbore Strengthening and StressCaging expertise was introduced through targeted Peer Assist and technology transfer, accelerating understanding of depleted-reservoir drilling and supporting a subsequent series of more successful deepwater production infill wells.

Malaysia Deepwater Portfolio – Corporate SME & Peer Review
Since 2018, the Corporate Deepwater SME role has provided independent technical challenge, Peer Review and specialist support across one of Malaysia's largest deepwater portfolios. The work spans producing and developing assets including Kikeh, Siakap North-Petai (SNP) and Block H, in approximately 1,000–1,750 m water depth, and covers projects from early concept and stage-gate assurance through detailed well engineering, drilling, completions, infill development and ongoing field optimisation.
The portfolio presents a wide range of deepwater challenges: subsea well architecture, complex reservoir compartmentalisation, long horizontal infill wells, depleted formations, shallow gas and shallow-water-flow hazards, hydrates, narrow drilling margins, subsea completions, gravel packing, well integrity and interaction with existing subsea infrastructure. Drawing on extensive international deepwater experience, the SME role provides continuity across successive projects — challenging designs, transferring lessons between fields and bringing relevant external experience into Peer Reviews and project stage gates before critical decisions become embedded.

Deepwater Well Engineering & Drilling Guideline
As a major SE Asian operator expanded from its traditional operating areas into increasingly complex deepwater exploration and development, I authored the company's Deepwater Well Engineering & Drilling Guideline to provide a practical engineering reference for experienced drilling and completions personnel.
The guideline brings together international deepwater experience, industry standards and learning from the operator's own activities — from the Myanmar exploration campaigns through to the acquisition and continuing development of the major Malaysian Kikeh, Siakap North-Petai, Block H and Gumusut-Kakap deepwater assets. It has evolved alongside the company's progression into a major deepwater operator, capturing specialist knowledge and operational experience in a structured form that can be consistently applied, transferred between projects and retained as organisational capability beyond the individual SME.

HPHT Well Engineering & Drilling Guideline
I authored the operator's original HPHT Well Engineering & Drilling Guideline in 2018, when the company's HPHT activity was principally focused on planning future exploration wells. Rather than attempting to anticipate a capability that did not yet exist, the guideline reflected the company's knowledge, risks and engineering requirements at that stage of its HPHT journey.
As the operator progressed through HPHT exploration and appraisal into planning full-field developments, I subsequently led the evolution of the guideline to capture learning from actual wells, development engineering and wider industry experience. Its scope now extends across HPHT drilling, completions, well testing, well unloading, intervention, perforating, equipment specification, wellheads and trees, QA/QC and lessons learned — converting accumulated SME expertise and operational learning into a practical technical reference that can continue to guide engineering decisions, transfer knowledge and build organisational capability long after the original expertise has moved on.

Growing Wellbore Strengthening Capability
As Corporate SME for Wellbore Strengthening (WBS), provided technical leadership to progressively grow the technology across the organisation — identifying suitable applications, supporting well-specific engineering and capturing and sharing learning from successive operations.
The approach developed from specialist knowledge into practical company capability, with WBS successfully applied across a range of weak and depleted formation challenges. Applications included the complementary use of WBS with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) to strengthen weak formations and improve the ability to safely deliver wells within narrow or challenging PPFG operating windows. Corporate Knowledge Management and systematic sharing of field experience helped successive teams build on previous applications rather than repeatedly starting from first principles.
